Emily wants you to be healthy and happy, strong and courageous, and wild and passionate. For the past eight years she has been instructing a variety of group fitness classes; from Yoga Sculpt to Lifting, TRX to Barre, HIIT to Cycle. She brings her enthusiasm, dedication, and passion to every class she teaches. In her free time you can catch Em working out, running around outside, or listening to hip hop music. “You do challenging things every day- hold on and do the best you can in that moment!“
Emily fell in love with dance at the age of three. She grew up dancing classical ballet for over 18 years, joining a professional ballet company (The Milwaukee Ballet) at age 17. After a change in career paths, Emily went to business school and now works full time as a project manger for United Health Group. Dance still remains Emily's number one passion. She enjoys sharing her love for dance with others through teaching dance fitness classes. She aims to bring joy to others through dance and teach them the beauty of using it as a way to express yourself.
Emily, a life-long lover of movement, took her first yoga class in 2004. In 2011 she completed the Jivamukti 300-hr teacher training and began teaching classes in the Bay Area, where she lived with her husband, daughter and son until relocating to Edina in 2014.
Since arriving in MN, Emily has led classes in and around Minneapolis, including teaching yoga in her kids’ school classrooms, and has enjoyed exploring different styles of yoga. In 2016 she discovered Strala, a power, feeling-based movement practice that uses the forms of yoga and the principles of natural movement to help people drop stress and tension from their bodies and minds. Right away, she found that practicing with softness and ease was revolutionary, and for the first time ever, she found that coming to the mat each day was always fun, and always felt good.
In 2017-2-18 Emily completed over 100 hours of training with Strala founders Tara Stiles and Mike Taylor. She is thrilled to be on the lifelong journey of guiding this practice, helping people to soften, breathe deep, tune in, and respond in an easy-going way to both simple and challenging things. Aside from her family, her greatest joy is helping people to feel better, move better, and live better through a better connection to themselves.

Rebecca was raised to believe passion + work was an essential combination. The love of humans, their bodies, what the combination could do fascinated her since a child in a strip mall dance studio (who remembers those?) to a young adult studying both Anatomy & Physiology in massage training along with her professional dance career she carries to this day. What blind luck Rebecca practices in the day-to-day of being a grown-ass-woman: birthing/raising/being awed by two young humans; a performance career with Ballet of the Dolls and now Collide Theatrical Dance Company; and a history of working with (adult-sized) humans in massage, personal strength training, cycle, Pilates, barre. The word “muse” is never lost on her. Ask Rebeca why in person.
Sam loves to stay busy especially when it’s all things marketing, retail, and fitness-minded. She has been teaching group fitness for 6 years after completing Corepower’s Yoga Sculpt teaching training program. Since then teaching has helped her discover the importance of finding joy and balance across all facets of daily living. It is incredibly important that you love what you do and feel good doing it - whether that is fitness, food, relationships or career. She completed her ACE group fitness certification last year which solidified her goal to help others become the best version of themselves. This is her mXe and can’t wait to share it with everyone she has the opportunity to meet and be with in 2018 and many years to come!!!
Sam started yoga 20 years ago to cope with a knee injury and mental illness, and has never stopped. He has worked as a teacher for the last 10 years exploring and developing his own style, which is as disciplined as it is irreverent. Based on the first yoga sutra (“Yoga is the stilling of the fluctuations of the mind”), Sam’s classes are simple and approachable but challenging to both mind and body. He uses breath — and I mean LOTS of breath — flow, and postures to get to the good stuff: the connection between the body and the heart, and our innate desire to grow and connect. Classes with Sam are always different, as he uses skills honed from extensive training (including Baron Baptiste, Shiva Rea, Bryan Kest, Live Love Teach Yoga School and CorePower) to zero in on the needs of the specific yogis at hand and deliver them an experience designed to help them grow stronger in whatever way they need. Sam’s warm, honest, playful, and loving nature allows students to trust him and their own experience, so each class takes on significance beyond just a series of poses.
Shannon fell in love with group fitness about 10 years ago after taking her very first fitness class (taught by the amazing Heather.) Throughout school she was always an athlete participating in a bunch of different sports and even cheerleading in college for the Wisconsin Badgers. She felt lost during her first year of law school because it was the first time she didn’t have a coach and a team. Luckily, she soon found group fitness and after being a participant for many years she was trained through the Life Time Academy and became an ACE certified instructor. She loves the community and team feel of group fitness and LOVES to get her mXe on in all formats!!
